Gator!

May 23, 2016 by Stephen Narwold

Our closest encounter with an alligator in the “wild”. Now before getting all upset about me and my 1, 4, and 5 year old kids this close to an alligator, we were on the other side of a cable fence which started about 3 feet up a concrete wall from the surface of the water.

We decided later that the ‘gator must have had his back legs or at least his tail down on the bottom of the lake (It’s very shallow there). He (or she…) was hanging out in the corner of the marina, right outside a pizza shop. From the way he went after the leaf Asa threw in the water (and the stick I threw in later), he had clearly been fed there before. Nothing like training alligators to come near where my kids walk when they’re hungry! What I’m trying to say is: Please don’t feed the alligators! But at least we got to enjoy a little show.
