Mother’s Day started early for us with a visit from our little Kaylene yesterday morning. Art took plenty of pictures, and we picked out this one to share with you. Hope your Mother’s Day is special, too.
It’s great to be back in our house! There’s a literacy seminar coming up in early June which requires a pile of materials translated into Spanish, so I’m happy to be back in my office, working hard to meet that deadline.
The seminar is actually being held in Perú, which is not one of our Ethnos360 fields, but word of our Literacy Starter software package has gotten out and other ministries are asking for training to learn how to use it. Our team is happy to have had the privilege of making this valuable tool available in Spanish.
Meanwhile, significant family events have taken place…
- Eida’s birth father’s earthly pilgrimage ended on Monday, the 22nd of April at the age of 97. Born in Yucatán, Mexico, he lived a long and colorful life.
- Eida’s mom, Ruth Edwards, had a very special 85th birthday. Her nieces came from Florida and Paris to celebrate with her.
- Unfortunately, Eida wasn’t able to be a part of either one of these events because of her health.
- Steve’s dad returned home to continue his recovery from triple bypass heart surgery. We are grateful that God made it possible for Steve to go to San Jose to help out.
A week after returning home from San Jose, Steve flew to Florida for our annual SLR team meetings — it was a good time of encouragement as we looked back on tasks accomplished and new opportunities to serve. Please be praying for God’s direction regarding creative ways to adapt and improve our work methods in order to continue providing Spanish resource materials for our Latin American co-workers in the 21st century.
We really appreciate your partnering with us in this ministry and interceding for us in prayer. Your friendship means a great deal to us.
With love,
Steve & Eida Irwin
