Vision Driven Ministry- The Why<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the goals I\u2019ve had for a while, is to start working with missionaries who have decided to come to PNG, as they raise support. We call it Ministry Partnership Development (MPD). In preparation for that, I’m watching through the class they offer at the Ethnos360 Training Center on MPD. They encourage the students to start with the \u201cWhy.\u201d Why are you going to Papua New Guinea as a missionary?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I imagine there are lots of layers to \u201cwhy\u201d for each of us. My personal \u201cwhy\u201d has always been to mobilize people in caring for missionaries and in going themselves<\/strong>. But why might it be important to care for missionaries? One reason is, it isn\u2019t easy to be separated from those who have sent you- your family, friends, church; it can be very isolating. Our missionaries come here and live among people who don\u2019t know them on a deep level, and many live among people who don\u2019t even speak the same heart language they do, and our church planters live among people who don\u2019t share their culture or worldview. But then you add in the effect that transition has on us, as we make new friends who start getting to know us on a deeper level, and then leave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While being removed from those closest to you is hard, add in the fact that we have an enemy that doesn\u2019t want us to succeed in this work and will seek to make us ineffective in any way that he can.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Those two factors alone make us very needy for prayer and encouragement and the affirmation that we\u2019re not alone<\/strong>, that we\u2019re still seen and known. It\u2019s important to have people reminding us of truth and to have people behind us even when it\u2019s hard. So, mobilizing people in caring for missionaries is my personal “why,” and these are some of the ways I attempt to carry it out . . .  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I <\/em>develop communication resources<\/strong> <\/em>that our missionaries can share with their churches<\/strong> <\/em>and supporters<\/strong> to bring greater understanding and connection to what we do here. These videos and articles about what NTM PNG does and how God is working, are also shared with sending organizations around the world that work together as Global Partners. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This video is about how we disciple young believers in our new church planting locations by having relationships with them. That’s why it’s so important that our church planters live on location with the people they’re teaching.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
