Rachida and her mom (and little brother) returned from the capital of a neighboring country late last week, and on Monday I was able to go and visit them. Even though hereditary retinoblastoma is a nasty disease and apart from the grace of God (hence the need for continued prayers!) she’ll never be completely out of the water, it was good to see her looking happy and healthy. Yes, both of her eyes have been removed, and she has fake eyes now. They look really nice, and her mom said that she thinks that Rachida’s friends don’t even know that they’re not real. Rachida’s mom does, though, since every morning she has to take them out, wash them, and put them back in. What a strong woman!
\nHer treatment is now done, though she’ll be seeing a doctor here in My Country from time to time just to monitor the situation.
