{"id":129,"date":"2012-02-11T23:09:30","date_gmt":"2012-02-12T04:09:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/susie-l\/?p=129"},"modified":"2012-02-11T23:09:30","modified_gmt":"2012-02-12T04:09:30","slug":"how-does-a-missionary-get-paid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/susie-l\/2012\/02\/11\/how-does-a-missionary-get-paid\/","title":{"rendered":"How does a missionary get paid?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I don&#8217;t ask this question as a *hint, hint* to try to get your money.\u00a0 Instead I&#8217;m writing about this because my blog is a place to keep you up-to-date on my life and\u00a0ministry, and how finances work for a missionary\u00a0is what I&#8217;m thinking about a lot right now.\u00a0 So it&#8217;s a window into my world.<\/p>\n<p>As a missionary going to a remote village in a country that most of you probably haven&#8217;t heard of, I don&#8217;t have a 9 to 5 job.\u00a0 I also don&#8217;t get paid by an employer.\u00a0\u00a0Neither New Tribes Mission nor the people I&#8217;ll be working with will pay me to translate the Bible\u00a0for a people group who has never before had\u00a0access to the\u00a0gospel.\u00a0 Instead, I rely on the ongoing support of churches and friends who promise to\u00a0support my ministry\u00a0regularly (which is tax-deductible).\u00a0\u00a0So while there is plenty of job security (there are over 2000 languages with no portion of the Bible at all, so there&#8217;s plenty of work to do), getting paid may not come quite as easily.<\/p>\n<p>Can you see why the people who support me financially are very important partners in the work God is doing?\u00a0 Without them, I couldn&#8217;t be doing what I&#8217;m doing.\u00a0 I appreciate you guys!<\/p>\n<p>Right now I&#8217;m working on developing a team of financial partners.\u00a0 (I&#8217;m also working on developing\u00a0the very important\u00a0team of people who will partner with me in prayer.\u00a0 I need prayer probably even more than the finances, but I&#8217;m not writing about that right now.)\u00a0 I&#8217;ve been sharing with people about what God has called me to do and how they can be a part of that.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve also enjoyed getting to know more people in the process (what a great bonus!).<\/p>\n<p>There are two types of\u00a0financial support that I&#8217;m working on raising now &#8211;
