111 nights.\u00a0 I’ve now slept in the same bed for the last 111 consecutive nights, and I imagine most of you have, too.\u00a0 At one point in my life it would have been normal to sleep in the same bed for 111 consecutive\u00a0nights (or many more!), but looking back, I haven’t slept in the same bed for that many consecutive nights since at least the time I moved to My Country in West Africa!\u00a0 (It was too much work to look back farther than that.)\u00a0 When is the last time that you’ve been in the same bed for this long?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s been kind of nice to not have to pack and travel for a while, and just stay in one place.  Who knew, right?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This time in one place has actually allowed me to chip away at projects that have been on my to-do list for quite a while.\u00a0 And yesterday I completed a really big one!\u00a0 Remember discourse analysis that I talk about a lot?\u00a0 Yesterday afternoon I sent in my “discourse analysis” of how stories work in the trade language of My Country!\u00a0 It’s been taking up a lot of my time for the last 111 days (and before that), and it feels so good to have e-mailed it in.\u00a0 I was asked to do it not only to understand the language better, but also to help prepare me to be a consultant and help others through the same process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So what’s happening now?\u00a0 I plan on a taking a short trip to visit my brother and his family (so the one-bed streak will be over soon), then attacking my thesis and the next two parts of the discourse analysis (and a handful of other ministry projects).\u00a0 Oh, and, of course, enjoying summer in the US.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
