I know that some of you would like more pictures from my life here, so let me try to help you out a little bit. Here are just a few from when my parents were here. If I get the chance I\u2019ll add some more another day, but at least this should get you started . . .<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a> This was from their first day here. Do you think they enjoyed leaving freezing Wisconsin in January?<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a> This was from their first day here, too, during the bus stop on our 5 hour bus ride. Yes, everyone swarmed around us, all wanting them to buy their sesame crackers, hard boiled eggs, bread, etc. By the end of the 10 minute stop my mom was a bit overwhelmed. She did much better the second time we were at that bus stop, a week later.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a> My dad doesn\u2019t speak French or Jula. But these boys have studied some English in school, so when they had a day off of school my dad took the opportunity to spend time with them. I think that in this picture he was trying to explain longitude and latitude. During this time I learned a new proverb: \u201cHe\u2019s spilling all the water on the side of the gourd.\u201d If you go to fill up a gourd with water, you usually want the water to go in, not splash off the side. It\u2019s like saying that nothing was getting in. But I have to admit that afterwards I did talk to some of the boys and they were able to tell me a decent amount of what he had told them.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a> My mom enjoyed the kids. These were school kids out for recess. Their school is at my church, which is also where I have Jula lessons and where I live.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a> My dad was excited about seeing my \u201cThe Home Depot\u201d here. Not quite the same as the real thing, but that\u2019s where I\u2019d go to buy hardware stuff.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a> My mom and I enjoyed making chocolate pudding cookies, made with chocolate chips and chocolate pudding and baking soda \u2013 thanks to everyone who sent those and other delicious or fun presents from home!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
