\"\"<\/a>I\u2019ve had two birthday celebrations lately. Yesterday was the pastor\u2019s birthday, and since I basically live in the pastor\u2019s front yard (my house is in their courtyard), I get to be part of lots of family things. So yesterday the kids of the pastor and I made a cake (which is so much easier with the cake mix sent from the US than from scratch!), and put in 4 candles (he turned 44). In the evening they turned off the lights, we lit the candles, brought it in (had to relight the candles since we had forgotten to turn the fan off first), sang happy birthday, he blew out the candles, and we all had cake.<\/p>\n

Today was a three-year-old from church\u2019s birthday. Her name is Princesse. I went over there for part of the afternoon. There was spaghetti and popcorn and juice and cake and other little foods to eat. I took this picture of the spaghetti cooking. From the foreground, can you guess what kind of meat we had? Yup, it was goat meat. Surprisingly, seeing the head and feet just sitting there doesn\u2019t gross me out nearly as much as it would have a year ago. I also don\u2019t mind seeing the skinned animals at the butcher\u2019s and having them just hack off a chunk for you.
