It’s back to school time here in Burkina Faso. And you know that that means it’s school supply buying time, too. For the kids here who are sponsored through Compassion International, today was school supply day. Their parents came and picked up a backpack full of their needed school supplies for each sponsored child. (Sorry that the picture isn’t very good. I took it with my phone.) I got to help with the distribution of the backpacks. Part of my job was having the parents sign by their child’s name to show that they had picked up the backpack. I was amazed to see that probably ½, if not more, of the parents who had to sign my paper couldn’t even sign their name. Some didn’t even look comfortable holding a pen. I saw lots of “x”s and circles and squiggles and a few names and a few signatures. It made me realize again how through sponsors like you through Compassion International and other believers who work here to make it work, these children are going to have a different life than their parents had and than they’d be able to have otherwise. Thank you!
