It is now hot season here in Burkina Faso, which means that it is regularly in the 90s in my bedroom and I don’t even know how hot outside. (I know it’s a good day when it’s down to 93 when I go to bed, and it’s a not-so-good day when I come home in the evening to find my thermometer at 98 and it’s not any cooler outside either.) Sometimes it makes it hard to think, sometimes it makes it hard to sleep, and sometimes it makes it hard for you to have energy to do anything. It’s the time of year when you can sweat by just sitting still. And that’s why today I made up my 17th pitcher of koolaid since hot season started 6 weeks ago. That’s also why I’m on my way to a vacation to get a short respite from the heat. I’m so excited to take my first “real” vacation in a long time. I’ll have to show you pictures afterwards, and then I bet you’ll be able to guess where I went.
