Maybe you drive, walk if it’s nearby, or even take a bus. But have you ever taken a gumi (inner tube) or waded across a river? That’s exactly what I did this weekend on my way to a wedding!<\/p>\n

I am grateful that I was given the opportunity to attend the ceremony and witness an important event in PNG culture. I learned a great deal, and am sure that I will learn more as I review the pictures!<\/p>\n

At the conclusion of the ceremony, we were served mambu with roasted sweet potato on the side. Mambu are tubes of bamboo stuffed with food and then roasted. Our mambu contained greens, chicken, and\u00a0chickpeas.<\/p>\n

Later on in the evening, they would also have chicken and pig from a mumu.<\/p>\n

I was also able to spend some extra time with my language helper and her daughters. She has been a wonderful blessing to me and I am enjoying building a friendship with her.<\/p>\n
