Can you believe that my ten months here are already up?! And these last days have been madness! We successfully wrapped up our end-of-year inventory in the Clinic, filled several orders for medications for our bush missionaries that last week, and overall I had a good last week of work. I then had a busy weekend of visiting another missions base about 2-1/2 hr away for their Christmas festival, coming home, taking a shower and a nap and then enjoying our own Christmas festival—crafts, baked goods, the work of our kids and of the local artisans all on display and for sale, not to mention all of the food! It makes a 90° (F) day feel more like Christmas! Of course, nothing says Christmas like the giant inflatable Santa house up on top of one of the local stores, bobbing and weaving in the slow humid breeze of a hot, sticky day or the Christmas lights and fluffy (6 in deep!) garland strung everywhere! Yup…Christmas is definitely on its way!
From that weekend on, it’s been non-stop cleaning, packing, selling, repacking, running errands, visiting out for meals, more cleaning, repacking again (until it all fits into 2 checked bags!), and laundry! Whew! I’m beat but I got it all done in 4-1/2 days. Handed in my keys yesterday, napped all afternoon, and then enjoyed a FANTASTIC Christmas concert put on by our kids and families, sat and chatted for another hour or more then headed to a friend’s house for a good night’s sleep. Back up and running with little things today followed by an evening of friends and fun. Then it’s just one more sleep until I leave!
I’m excited to get home, sad to say good-bye to all of my friends and brothers and sisters here, and disappointed now that my house is really clean not to be able to stay to enjoy it! LOL!
Looking back over all that God has done and blessed me with, I feel overwhelmed by His goodness. I hope that your Christmas season isn’t so busy that you can’t see His goodness! For He has indeed been (as I heard one man say) “just too good to me!”
