Twenty Three years ago, this week, Kelley and I were in the Jungle Camp training with NTM in Canada! We celebrated Nathan’s first birthday in our just completed house made of cedar poles and plastic. Although there were moments to hang out in our hammock, there were many rigorous aspects of the training including no supply trips for four weeks… with no refrigeration! These types of challenges trained our hearts to trust in God for guidance and provision and helped launch us into ministry with NTM, where we have had various roles and responsibilities in the areas of mobilization, administration and discipleship.
The first week of February, I spent three days back at the Missionary Training Center in Canada with the Mobilization directors for Canada and both NTBI campuses. Our goal was to evaluate the Contact Management software that NTM Canada has been using as well as consider how we might work together more effectively. We discussed some possibilities to better utilize the Jungle Camp setting and the current “Off the Grid” mobilization ministry by getting NTBI students and staff involved on-sight.
It was a blessing to visit with some staff who have served faithfully since we were there as students. However, there are many getting close to retirement age and we therefore need a task force of the younger generation to be mobilized, trained and engaged in missionary ministry! Kelley and I are excited to lead a group of around twenty-five NTBI students to “Off the Grid” in September! So, please pray to the Lord of the Harvest that He would send forth laborers into His harvest fields, and pray for us as we help train the next wave of workers.
