{"id":116,"date":"2010-04-01T17:40:17","date_gmt":"2010-04-01T22:40:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/todd-nelson\/?p=116"},"modified":"2010-04-01T17:40:17","modified_gmt":"2010-04-01T22:40:17","slug":"good-friday-forsaken","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/todd-nelson\/2010\/04\/01\/good-friday-forsaken\/","title":{"rendered":"Good Friday &#8211; Forsaken"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cMy God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?\u201d\u00a0 Have you ever felt so isolated and alone that you hurt?\u00a0 Imagine an eternity spent completely isolated, separated from any contact with anybody.\u00a0 This is the fate that awaits all who do not believe in Jesus Christ as their Savior.\u00a0 The Bible puts it this way, \u201cthese will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power.\u201d (2 Thessalonians 1:9)\u00a0 God\u2019s judgment for sin is eternal.\u00a0 All who die without trusting in Christ will never see relief from the pain of eternal isolation from God.\u00a0 The pain of the\u00a0worst loneliness ever felt on earth is nothing in comparison to the eternal loneliness of separation from God.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?\u201d\u00a0 This was Jesus\u2019 cry from the cross just before He died\u00a0(Matthew 27:46).\u00a0 At that moment, Jesus Christ fully experienced the\u00a0extreme loneliness and complete isolation described in 2 Thessalonians.\u00a0 He took\u00a0our eternal judgment for our sin upon Himself.\u00a0 Jesus Christ felt the most intense loneliness that could ever be\u00a0felt.\u00a0 He was completely cut off from the Father.\u00a0 Jesus did this for us. \u00a0He did this for you.\u00a0\u00a0Jesus also\u00a0said from the cross &#8220;it is finished&#8221;\u00a0(John 19:30).\u00a0 The only thing needed for anyone to escape God&#8217;s eternal judgment for sin\u00a0is to simply believe in Jesus as Savior (Romans 3:21-31).\u00a0 Sin and its penalty are eternally\u00a0forgiven\u00a0in Jesus Christ.\u00a0 This forgiveness is ours by faith in Jesus who died in our place.<\/p>\n<p>This Good Friday, take time to reflect on Jesus and what He has done.\u00a0 If you have already placed your faith in Him, then be thankful as <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/todd-nelson\/2010\/02\/20\/awayo-from-fear-to-faith\/\">AWAYO<\/a> was thankful.\u00a0 If you have not trusted only in Christ as Savior, consider Him and what He has done on the cross.\u00a0 Why should you remain\u00a0eternally &#8220;forsaken&#8221;\u00a0since Christ chose to be &#8220;forsaken&#8221; in your place?\u00a0 Jesus willingly took sin upon Himself so you could be forgiven.\u00a0 He died so you could have real life found only in Him.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cMy God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?\u201d\u00a0 Have you ever felt so isolated and alone that you hurt?\u00a0 Imagine an eternity spent completely isolated, separated from any contact with anybody.\u00a0 This is the fate that awaits all who do not believe in Jesus Christ as their Savior.\u00a0 The Bible puts it this way, [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":617,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_genesis_hide_title":false,"_genesis_hide_breadcrumbs":false,"_genesis_hide_singular_image":false,"_genesis_hide_footer_widgets":false,"_genesis_custom_body_class":"","_genesis_custom_post_class":"","_genesis_layout":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[1774],"tags":[],"class_list":{"0":"post-116","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","6":"category-bible-messages","7":"entry"},"aioseo_notices":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/todd-nelson\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/116","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/todd-nelson\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/todd-nelson\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/todd-nelson\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/617"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/todd-nelson\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=116"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/todd-nelson\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/116\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/todd-nelson\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=116"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/todd-nelson\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=116"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/todd-nelson\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=116"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
