It just couldn\u2019t wait. For about five months our drains were not draining properly, our washer would spin out and water would come pouring off our porch like a waterfall leaving drenched wood and a lake of bubbles under the house, any time any amount of water over half a gallon would try to drain, our tub would get backed up with grimy dirt and bits of leach field matter leaving the bathroom so stinky you could hardly walk in their with out gagging! Oh. And then of course it would stay like that for the ages it would take to drain again and leave tons of scum in the tub. \ud83d\ude41 (the pictures don\u2019t even show how bad it could get) The leach field itself was full and bursting through the ground at the back of house causing a very odorous lake of it\u2019s own and it was all just too much to deal with. We just couldn\u2019t put off doing repairs for any longer!<\/p>\n

In addition to the septic issues, some adjustments needed to be made to our solar panels and a missionary new to the area had graciously offered to come out to our village and offer his expertise on the new wiring. Plans were forming for a big day of work…<\/p>\n

Leach filed #1 getting started at the back of the house.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Just a week prior to our big project day, our parters- the Bealls, had undertaken the massive (and much needed) project of installing a completely new septic tank and leach field at their house. It was a huge job involving pouring the entire tank with cement and Ned had chosen a handful of faithful Tigak guys to help with the huge amount of labor. The guys did a great job with the work and on the last day of Ned\u2019s septic work, Tom decided to ask a few of the same guys if they wouldn\u2019t mind working for one or two more days at our house. They were willing so it was on! Our Sludge & Solar Day!<\/p>\n

Bright and early Tom left in our boat to pick up the guy, Aaron, who would be doing the wiring on our solar panels. While he was gone the guys showed up for work and I got them started on prep work while I busily worked to move huge sections of my garden flowers away from where huge holes were going to be dug. It was lame, but it would be worth it! \ud83d\ude42 \u00a0I won\u2019t bore you with too many details about all the work but I will let the pictures speak (partially) for themselves.<\/p>\n

Aaron had to be up on the roof at the peak heat of the day! OUCH! We could not even guess how hot it must have been but it was brutal. Hiring a friend to hold a HUGE umbrella was a must!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Drilling the hundred plus holes in the drums was extremely loud and took hours, after a while Jude had had enough of the noise!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"<\/a>
Leach field #2 was located on the front of the house and was just for the washing machine!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"<\/a>
God has blessed us with great partners! We are so thankful for Ned's helpful advice and help!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Not all the work was able to be finished in one day so half of the next day was spent finishing up Leach field #2. As usual, Tom was ready and willing to offer comic relief to his hard working buddies. \ud83d\ude42<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Jude was happy to sit with the big guys while they took a break and "educate them" on everything from how they should do their work to important details about Toy Story and his favorite toys. \ud83d\ude1b<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

All the “sludge & solar” work is completed now and we feel so great about it! \u00a0Our drains are all draining in seconds, the wood on our porch is fully dried for the first time in ages and I can now clean the tub and it will stay clean for longer than a day! \u00a0Even though these two work days were an interruption into regular studies and schedule, they were worth it for the relief we now feel not having to deal with these problems with our house! \u00a0Praise the Lord!<\/p>\n

Lord willing in July we will be having more very helpful work done on our house issues when Tom’s sister & husband head out our way!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
