When Torre and I visited Chihuahua, Mexico for the first time we stayed at the Guest House there and met missionaries Tim and Janet Roberts. They were coming back from a break and heading back to their mountain home where they have had a ministry for years. They were a great encouragement to us as our senses were in overload with sights, smells, and new experiences. They encouraged us in the direction God was leading. They shared stories of their own ministry and hardships. They shared games, and even food.
Tim and Janet have stayed at the Guest House and we have enjoyed serving them while they are here. Most recently Janet and Tim are here for an unexpected long stay. They came up to have her leg looked at and it turned out to need surgery. Here is what they had to say,
“Praise the Lord that no cancer was found! But the doctor says it will simply not heal without surgery. There is a big calcification under the skin that is causing a lot of pressure and pain. It will be a 4-5 day stay in the hospital as the surgery site will be a 4”x 6” inch area, or possibly larger, depending on the size of calcification that she finds during surgery. She will then do a skin graft on Janet, that of course, means a donor site to deal with too. It’s a pretty big deal, and while we don’t look forward to the surgery, or the long days of healing, we are thankful to have a plan of action- and the doctor is so knowledgeable and willing to get going ASAP!
Some good news is that we can use a wound vac on the skin graft that will really help promote healing and reduce the chance of infection(remember Janet can’t take antibiotics). Also, the surgery will release a tight band in the scar tissue giving Janet more flexibility than she’s experienced in many years. Praise the Lord!
We are waiting on a hospital opening and they are really booked, so please pray with us for that opening. We know God has it all worked out so we desire to follow His lead and not run ahead. It’s really a blessing to see how He has worked thus far and I’ll update you as soon as we know more!
We praise the Lord for each of you, and are thankful for your kind notes, prayers, and gifts.
