Here is some Michigan geography for you; Michigan is made up of two peninsulas, the Lower Peninsula and the Upper Peninsula. We are currently residing in the Lower Peninsula. What many do not realize is that there is a third peninsula, the Keweenaw Peninsula. The camp we spoke at this past summer (Gitche Gumee Bible Camp) was located in the Keweenaw Peninsula.
In January we were able to spend a week getting to know Bethany Baptist Church in Dollar Bay, also located in the Keweenaw Peninsula. While there we enjoyed the Kewenaw Peninsula in the winter, something we have never done before!
After our week at Bethany Baptist we headed to Munising Baptist in Munising, Michigan, in the Upper Peninsula. We sought out a frozen waterfall as well.
I have learned since spending two weeks in the U.P. that anything that is not in the Upper Peninsula is considered “down state”.
Thank you for praying for our time in the upper peninsulas. We felt refreshed and encouraged through the many meals we shared with families as well as getting to know one of our favorite places (the upper peninsula) in the winter.
