I have loved fall before Pinterest and Facebook made cool posters proclaiming it as a wonderful time of the year. Before I even met Torre I wanted to get married in October. Ta-da! God blessed me with that AND it was peak color season for all the trees in Michigan.
Fast forward to 2008 and I spend my first autumn season in the desert. Folks told me the trees would turn “color”. Yep, they did…in November. I was so homesick. For the first time ever, I cried over missing my favorite season in Michigan.
Fast forward to today. I’ve stopped crying and started embracing. I choose to enjoy fall. Even when it feels like it will never. cool. off.
Some tips for enjoying the fall in the desert…
Embrace the “cooler” evenings and night. Cooler being 70 degrees. Open those windows!
Small fall blessings can come from unexpected places. Like your neighbors uncle who is passing through and drops off apples from his tree.
Find friends who send fall goodness in a box….
Light a fall scented candle.
Buy a pumpkin. But do NOT carve it! It will rot in 24 hours.
And yes, pumpkin spice can lift the mood. But folks, not all things should be flavored pumpkin spice. Pumpkin spice pizza anyone?
