Dear Friends, JUNE 2010
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5-6 (King James Version)
We want to share with you what has been happening in our lives and work during our time of home assignment.
Please Pray for us, as we have some exciting ministry changes coming up the first part of August…
Last year we approached our New Tribes Mission Leadership before leaving Paraguay about taking a longer furlough and during that time we would like to serve The Lord at one of the New Tribes Mission Bible schools or at the USA headquarters in Sanford, Florida.
One of our reasons was for Samuel to get his green card. Basically a green card is an immigration visa. Samuel had a tourist visa and with it he was only allowed to stay for short periods of time in the U.S.A. and couldn’t work any paying job. We talked with our New Tribes Mission Paraguay Leadership about the possibility of applying for a green card for Samuel.
Secondly, we felt that it would benefit our two remaining children to live for awhile in the States and attend an English school, so that it isn’t such a drastic adjustment for them when they come back to the U.S.A. as adults.
Also with the economy problems in the U.S.A. the way it is, some of our supporters have let us know that they might have to stop supporting us, so we felt that it would be a good time to touch base with our supporters and co-workers in the U.S.A.
Our NTM Paraguay leadership gave us their complete approval and support in this,
Following is the part about us in the letter that was sent to the N.T.M. USA headquarters by our Paraguay leadership:
concerning the Recaldes… Hi Stephen, We have a family (Samuel and Tracy Recalde) who have two adult daughters living in the States. Samuel is Paraguayan and Tracy is North American. Their third daughter (Stefany) graduated from HS and plans to attend Waukesha Bible School this fall. Their fourth daughter (Kristina) is 16. They also have son (Nathan) who is 11 years old. Samuel and Tracy would like to take a ministry in the States for about 2 years. They would like to travel to the US this December. They would plan to return to Paraguay after 2 years to minister here. We as a leadership team support him in his desires. Dan Crane (NTM Paraguay)
After receiving approval from the New Tribes Mission leadership, we went ahead and put in the petition for Samuel’s green card at the American Embassy in Asuncion. God worked miracles and the paperwork was processed quickly and he was approved. Within only a few weeks Samuel’s green card arrived in the mail! Now he needs to remain in the U.S.A. for one more year in order to establish residency before returning to Paraguay.
Did you ever wonder what happens to missionaries when they grow old??http://www.ntm.org/ntmhomes/about.php?page=about NTM Homes in Sanford, Florida is a retirement center for New Tribes Missionaries. On June 16, 2010, we were interviewed by the leadership at the NTM Homes and we will be helping there for one year starting in August while Samuel establishes residency for his green card before returning to Paraguay. Samuel will be on maintenance and construction crew and Tracy will be helping with the retired missionaries there at the retirement center and some computer work etc. Please Pray for us as we adjust to this new ministry that God has given us for the next year. Please Pray also for our children, as they adjust to a new home, new school and make new friends.
Please continue to Pray for our Tribal brothers and sisters at the Colony, Tava Amboae in Paraguay as they learn to rely on God alone. We are confident that they will do a good job of teaching their own People in our absence.
Thank you for being our co-workers, as together; we are involved in taking the Gospel to tribal people. We are thankful to God for each of you who faithfully pray for us and send us financial gifts.
“For we are laborers together with God.” 1 Cor. 3:9 Thank you very much for Praying for us and for helping us!
Your Co-workers in Christ’s Service,
Samuel, Tracy and Family
