In our last newsletter we mentioned we were still waiting for our work permits. Good news! Our work permits arrived the beginning of August. Our next step is to get our visas from the Papua New Guinea embassy in Washington DC. Unfortunately their computer system for granting visas has been down for a month and we’re not sure when it will be operational again. Our visas have actually been approved in PNG, the problem is with transmitting them to the embassy.

We still have 3 1/2 months before we are planning to leave for Papua New Guinea, hopefully that will be plenty of time to get our visas and plane tickets. Besides us there are many other first time and returning missionary families waiting for their visas. Please pray with us that the computer system at the embassy will be up and running soon.

“In their hearts humans plan their course,
but the Lord establishes their steps.”

Proverbs 16:9

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him,

who have been called according to his purpose.”

Romans 8:28

God’s plans are the best

When we first realized we weren’t going to make it to PNG in August and we would have to wait until January, we were a little discouraged. These two verses above now have a deeper meaning for us.

Our plan was to leave in August, but God knew better. He knew the minor repairs to our house to prepare it to rent out again while we are away would take a lot longer than we thought. And he also knew that Becky would have appendicitis in the middle of September, surprise! If we would have already been in PNG she would have most likely had to fly out of country for the surgery. Here in Idaho it was only a 15 minute drive to the hospital and she was in surgery within 4 hours of arriving. We are so thankful that we were able to be near a good hospital and near our church family who watched the kids for us and brought us meals.

Current Plans

We now have about 3 1/2 months left until we leave. It seems like a long time, but it is flying past us at lightening speed. We are busy with preparations, homeschooling Nathan, and being more involved with our home church.

In the beginning of October we will take a trip to the east coast to see Becky’s family. While we are there we will also be speaking to the adult Sunday school class at Cedar Crest Bible Fellowship church on Oct 15th at 8:45am. If you are in the PA or NJ area and would like to get together sometime between Oct 3rd-17th send us a message.

<figure class="wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default
