May and June were like a roller coaster ride. We had our share of ups and downs. The downs seemed to come on the heels of the ups. May was the beginning of the ride with the roller coaster going up with a few dips.
We shared with you our need to purchase our airline tickets for our return to the US and our financial debt with our mission. God provided wonderfully for our tickets home and for our financial debts in the Philippines.
At the beginning of May, it was obvious to us that we needed to find another house to live in. After contemplating a few options (made more difficult by our family size and limited budget), God directed us to a newer house in a more secure area. The owner agreed to the terms and we were able to sign the contract. We didn’t move until the first week of June after school was out. Our next task was to find a family to sublet the house for us while we are gone. We had two families interested in the house so that was exciting.

Walter was busy the month of May with senior class activities. A week before school was out; he went with Ben and the senior class for their senior trip. The trip had its own ups and downs, including late nights. He was able to get some things done, but with no internet access, he was not able to communicate to his middle school staff. Following the senior trip, there was baccalaureate, senior parents’ breakfast and graduation. As principal, he was busy with teacher evaluations, teacher placements for next year, middle school events, and daily problems that occur at school.
On the last day of school, Ashley had her eighth grade ceremony of passage. In addition to receiving several awards from various teachers; she was also honored by receiving the Vanguard Girl award (outstanding in leadership, character, service and academics). That was pretty special. School closed at 11:15 with the traditional flag lowering ceremony in which Ben participated with three other Eagle scouts. In the afternoon, we attended graduation for Ben. At the presentation of scholarship awards, Ben was honored by receiving the Outstanding Senior Boy award. (He also received a scholarship award last month for his team sports playing and testimony on the team.) It is exciting for us to see them blessed in this way. God is indeed working in our children’s lives!
“June’s Rollercoaster Ride” will be our next letter. We had a few computer issues that messed up our email list, so please contact us if you would like to be on our email list.
Thank you for praying for us!
