Third quarter ended the middle of March and we were able to get a much needed break. Hot season was beginning so what could be better than a trip to the mountains to see some friends. We were able to finally visit some long time friends, Rocky and Liz Niclasen, in their ministry amongst the Kankana-ey people. Rocky and Liz, and other
missionaries, have had a ministry amongst the Kankana-ey people for many years and have many believers who are active in the church. Desiring to give resources to the people to help them grow and reach out to others with the gospel, Rocky and Liz are helping the people to translate the chronological Bible lessons into their own language, using their own words. Rocky teaches the basic lesson to the translators and then they translate the lessons, using their own style of teaching. As lessons have been translated, they also take it to different villages and teach others to use the lessons. It was exciting to see the finished printed project of the first phase of lessons in their hands. It was also refreshing to hear their enthusiasm and excitement of seeing the people learn and take over the teaching and get excited to share God’s love with others in their same language group.
We were refreshed during the week off to begin our last quarter at school. Walter continues to be busy with his regular duties as well as going through new staff and student applications, meeting new families, and meeting with each teacher in the middle school individually to reflect and evaluate the year.
Abby and I have been busy with many activities with her junior class. She recently was in the school musical, Crazy for You, and had a lot of fun. The junior class produced the school talent night show as a fundraiser for sponsoring the junior/senior banquet, honoring the seniors later this month.
At the end of April, NTM announced a name change for our organization to Ethnos360. This has been in process for several years with a lot of thought put into it. They felt it was needed because of our changing world. Our vision as an organization has not changed. Here is the link to explain the reason for the change: https://ethnos360.org/about. There is a video to explain it as well on the homepage of the mission website. Below are links to our blog and the new mission website. Right now, our email is still the same and we will let you know when the change will take place.
Thank you for partnering with us in your prayers and finances. We would not be here without you upholding us. Continue to pray for more staff at Faith Academy next year to fill the vital positions. Click here for the listing.
In Christ,
Cheryl for the Spicers
