Happy February! “How we thank God for you! Because of you we have great joy in the presence of God… 12 And may the Lord make your love grow and overflow to each other and to everyone else, just as our love overflows toward you.” (1Thess. 3:9-12)
We praise God for the wonderful time that we had with our family in the USA last December. We are thankful for the time we had helping Juliana and spending time with our newest grandson. Plus we are thankful for the short time we had with most of our children.
Thank you for praying for us! Outdoor Ed went well and it was encouraging to hear the students share in Chapel all that God did during Outdoor Ed and the work that He is doing in their lives. They spent one day at our base camp doing a ministry with some local children. Another day in the jungle, learning about all of flora and fauna and cooking their supper out of “pots and pans” made out of bamboo and even starting their fire with only bamboo (no flint, matches, or lighter). Lastly, a day at the beach learning about sea turtles. They were all privileged to release one or two baby sea turtles into the ocean. We have not had Outdoor Ed in three years, so it was encouraging to see the students out of the city with NO cell phones or devices; just learning, interacting, enjoying God’s creation, and being challenged from God’s Word.

Pray for strength and wisdom as Cheryl is the Head Nurse and Walter is the Deputy Head of School. These next few months they both will be busy with the registration of all new and returning students. Cheryl will be checking on the health requirements and Walt is in charge of the whole process. They made some changes to the app in November that are currently causing problems so Walt has been in contact with the developer. Cheryl and the team of nurses will also be doing health screening for the elementary students this week.
We have enjoyed the activities we have done with the girls from the Butterfly Project. Walter tutored seven of the girls in math to prepare for a special test to see if they can move up a level in school. It is hard for them as many have not had a good education before coming to the home. Last weekend, we had our popcorn and movie night, plus they love playing with all of our sports equipment: jump ropes, Chinese garter, four square, badminton (with different size rackets and paddles), soccer, basketball, volleyball, and small balls for little children. It is fun watching them interact and have so much fun outside.
Thank you for your continued support; it is such an encouragement to us!
Blessings,
Walt and Cheryl
