Thank you all for your prayers! The gas in my (Walter’s) eye lasted for 11.5 weeks which made teaching difficult and driving impossible, but it kept getting smaller and smaller as the doctor predicted. It is now completely gone and my vision is back to normal and I can do everything again–Cheryl is thankful that I can drive again as she prefers not to drive in Manila. Thank you for praying these past three months! God is always good and we are so thankful!
The first two weeks of December were a blur! That is a busy time for most schools and for me as an English teacher, I assigned two writing assignments—82 essays that needed to be graded, which is a lot of work, but I was proud of my students and the growth that I saw over the quarter.
We are thankful that it is now Christmas “break.” It is supposed to be a break, but Walter will still have some administrative work to do plus lesson plans to complete. We were praying that the new English teacher would arrive at the beginning of January, but she is delayed and still raising her support. Please pray for her that she will arrive here soon and that God will continue to strengthen me as I wear many hats. I do love working with middle school students, and they even cheered when they heard that I would continue teaching them next semester.
Walter will also be helping with Outdoor Ed in February and will start planning for it.
Lastly, now that it is break, we can go to the Butterfly Project more often. They love Christmas parties and fun activities. Walter will go several times and Cheryl will join in the big activities.
Cheryl has been busy in the health office with administrative work. She will do a few first aid presentations to our staff during the second semester. Plus she is excited that she is training a new nurse that will start after Christmas break.
We are excited that life will slow down for a few weeks. We are not planning to do much, except what we described above and several virtual calls to our friends and family.
We are so thankful for your partnership. Your faithful prayers for us and Walter’s eye was so encouraging. It has been so encouraging to see how God continues to meet all of our financial needs and even our physical needs as we age. We truly believe that “if God calls, He will enable.” We can testify of that promise over the past 34 years in the Philippines, and we are thankful for your part in that enabling by praying for us and giving financial support.
Merry Christmas!
Walter and Cheryl
