{"id":278,"date":"2011-03-28T12:08:49","date_gmt":"2011-03-28T04:08:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/walter-spicer\/?p=278"},"modified":"2011-04-01T04:45:44","modified_gmt":"2011-03-31T20:45:44","slug":"january-happenings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/walter-spicer\/2011\/03\/28\/january-happenings\/","title":{"rendered":"January Happenings"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure id=\"attachment_297\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-297\" style=\"width: 135px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/walter-spicer\/files\/2011\/03\/DSCF58062.JPG\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-297  \" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/walter-spicer\/files\/2011\/03\/DSCF58062-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"Our family at the beach\" width=\"135\" height=\"180\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/walter-spicer\/files\/2011\/03\/DSCF58062-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/walter-spicer\/files\/2011\/03\/DSCF58062-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/walter-spicer\/files\/2011\/03\/DSCF58062.JPG 1368w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 135px) 100vw, 135px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-297\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Our family at the beach<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>We are 1 1\/2 weeks into our 3rd quarter.\u00a0 This is our busiest quarter with basketball tournaments, talent night for the junior class (of which Ashley is an officer) and outdoor education week.\u00a0 Walter has been busy planning all the details for outdoor ed.\u00a0 He has made several trips down to the volcano, the town and the camp, meeting with people and checking out the facilities.\u00a0 He still has another one to arrange transportation.\u00a0 Many people are involved to organize their part, and the middle school students have been divided into their squads.\u00a0 The squads have been meeting and preparing as well.\u00a0 Please be in prayer for this week, February 7-11, for all the logistics, safety, good learning experience as well as the speakers for the chapels each night.\u00a0 Pray for a time of spiritual growth for these kids and for their squad leaders to be sensitive to them.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Juliana and Ashley have been busy with basketball, as well as Walter.\u00a0 They have had a few games since school started, some tough college teams and some not as tough.\u00a0 Walter has been thankful for his co-coach who has helped him out when he was not able to be at practice or a game.<\/p>\n<p>Abby is enjoying her 5th grade class.\u00a0 It is hard to believe that this is her last year in elementary.\u00a0 She is busy with piano lessons like her sisters as well as her friends.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I continue to work in the health office.\u00a0 Last week we completed the health screening for the elementary students.\u00a0 The nurses were also invited to a lecture on dermatology by another international school here in Manila.\u00a0 It was a good refresher for us nurses.\u00a0 The week of outdoor education, I will go along as the camp nurse.\u00a0 Right now I am preparing the first aid kits.<\/p>\n<p>We were able to Skype our boys a few times during the Christmas break.\u00a0 It was so good to see them through the webcam on the computer and talk to them.\u00a0 They enjoyed being together with family during the break.\u00a0 They were able to spend time with both my family and Walter\u2019s family.\u00a0 They are both still looking for jobs while in college.\u00a0 Paul doesn\u2019t have vehicle so it is more of a challenge for him.\u00a0 He also has a new roommate so is making adjustments there as well.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Thank you for your continued prayers and support for our family and our ministries.\u00a0 Please also pray for our mission to finish the paperwork on our helicopter that will service our missionaries on the island of Luzon.\u00a0 It is still in process.\u00a0 Pray also for more staff for next school year.\u00a0 There are many positions that need to be filled as teachers leave for one year or are finishing their assignment here.<\/p>\n<p>In Christ,<\/p>\n<p>Cheryl for the Spicers<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are 1 1\/2 weeks into our 3rd quarter.
