We work among the Menya people group in the mountainous grasslands of Papua New Guinea. The Menya number about 50,000 people in over 40 different villages. In 2009 we moved into Menya to built our home and started learning the Menya language and culture. We have had medical setbacks, which kept us out if the tribal work for almost 3 years, but God was faithful to bring us back here to Menya. I, Wes have completed formal culture and language study in July of 2015. Since then I have attended workshops to learn how to do bible translation and bible lesson writing. I have begun translating Old testament portions in preparation for sharing the Gospel here in Menya.
We have also recently written the 4 primers needed to begin a literacy program here. It is important that the Menya people can read so that as the scriptures are translated they can be reading God’s Word for themselves.
Please pray for us as we teach literacy, translate scripture and write bible lessons. Pray that God would be preparing the hearts of the people in our village here.
