Summer Plans in PNG

June 11, 2017 by Aaron and Erika Weatherl

Micah graduated from his 2 years of Bible School in Waukesha. He would appreciate prayer this year as he seeks to build upon the relationships he has in the different churches in preparation for entering missions training in Aug 2018. The photo is with his cousin Esther Tjolker who is also planning on entering missions training at the same time next year.

Thank you for your support this year. God has used your sacrifices for His glory. We are privileged to be a part in seeing the gospel go out and seeing a thriving church in every people group.
Another school year gone by already. Joel is going into grade 11 and Grace into grade 10 this fall. It is good to look back on life and see how faithful God has been all along the way.

This summer Aaron will be involved in multiple language evaluations. Pray for each person being evaluated to be able to give a clear picture of their ability and that God would grant us consultants wisdom and insight on how best to assist them in their language and culture progress.

These pictures are from the CLA evaluation with another consultant as we worked with the Wantakia missionary team. Praise God they are doing very well in one of toughest languages.

Family Update

The center that we work on has 60+ families and singles. This year the Center manager is going on Home Assignment, and in the interim between him departing and his replacement arriving by August, Aaron is assuming that role.

Name Change

We also wanted to let you know that New Tribes Mission – USA has a new name.  New Tribes Mission is already known by different names in different countries so this change is for NTM-USA and Canada.  The new name is Ethnos 360 in the USA and Ethnos Canada for Canada.  Ethnos is a Greek word meaning “nations, tribes or people groups” and 360 degrees refers to the whole world, so this is right in line with our goal of reaching the least reached people groups of the world.  The goals of NTM have not changed since it was founded 75 years ago and the way we go about “doing missions” is not changing.  In some areas of the world “tribes” has a negative connotation and some tribes have heard the Gospel at some point but maybe not clearly, so “new” isn’t completely accurate.  There are also countries where going in as a “mission” is not possible.  These are a couple of the reasons for the name change.  It is going to take some getting used to but we are happy to be part of a mission that clearly presents the Gospel and disciples believers to maturity and builds New Testament churches in the least reached areas of the world.
