Alberto is traveling during the first two weeks of March with Eliodoro, one of the Guahibo tribal church leaders. Despite his serious health problems, Alberto decided to make this trip because it’s so crucial at this moment for the advancement of the ministry in that area of the country and for discipling José and Eliodoro.
One of the national churches in Arauca is interested in supporting the evangelistic work in the Playero tribe (a subgroup of the Guahibo language family). Eliodoro and his wife have been praying and they want to participate in this ministry. We would be grateful for your prayers for Alberto’s time with the leaders of the national church and also that it might be possible to visit some of the villages where the Playero people live.
It takes 6 hours by bus to get from the place where Jorge lives to the location where Eliodoro will be living. This will make it possible for the two families to work together as a team.
On this trip, Alberto and Eliodoro also plan to visit José. They hope to teach the introduction to the Firm Foundations lessons to groups* that belong to the Guahibo language family which have expressed interest, and which understand the Guahibo language well, although there are some small differences in each dialect. (*Amorúa, Masiware, Tsiripos and Waepijiwi.
The Cuiva people are another people group that is interested in the teaching of the Word. They inhabit the region where José lives. Alberto and José are adapting the first phase of Firm Foundations (the evangelistic lessons) to the Cuiva language, since they understand less of the Guahibo language than the groups mentioned above.
We greatly appreciate your prayers for this trip, that during this time our Heavenly Father will be made known and glorified among these people groups. Please pray for Alberto’s health and hip pain, and also for his safety.
Thank so much for praying,
Blessings Nancy Gonzalez
