Friends and Family,
The past month and a half since we sent out an update have mostly been filled with predictable routine. Andrew’s weeks are consumed with the study of linguistics and we would appreciate your continued prayers as he continues to apply himself to this.
Our routine is about to change! On the 20thof September (which is coming up incredibly fast!) we, along with the families of all those in the linguistics course, will be moving to Oklahoma for 2 months.
Why? A linguistics practicum – Andrew and his classmates will be using the Cherokee language to put into practice what they have been learning
Living arrangements – There is a Christian camp in the area that graciously offers up their facilities for us to live in during our time there. We will be cooking and eating our meals together as a class and living very communally.
More than linguistics – Teamwork, interacting and learning from the Cherokee people and culture, putting ourselves in a new and different environment than we are used to and so much more. We get to put into practice so much of our training.
How does it work? Andrew and his classmates will be split up into teams and each team will have a native Cherokee language helper that they will meet with regularly. We have been told by classes who have gone before us about what an incredible relationship opportunity this is, many times students will be invited to be involved in their churches, in family events, in cultural events as well in spending time getting to know them. We are very excited for this opportunity!
Baby Update
Baby Trott is a …. BOY!!
Simeon Ezra Trott
We have been incredibly blessed by a healthy and fairly easy pregnancy! We have reached the 20 week, halfway mark and couldn’t be more thankful! We recently had a doctor’s appointment where they do a longer ultrasound and check to make sure that baby is healthy and has all its parts: arms, legs, organs, etc. We are happy to report that baby is healthy and growing as it should, our Lord is definitely the giver of all good gifts! At this appointment we were also, despite the stubbornness of our child, able to find out the gender!!
We are so thankful for you and excited to be on this journey with you, and we appreciate your prayers!
