Thank you all for your prayers and support of us as we’ve made this transition over to Papua New Guinea. Since arriving on our mission center to begin our study of PNG culture and the trade language, Tok Pisin, it has been quite the busy schedule. No week has looked the same as COVID has been on the rise in PNG and regulations are changing regularly. But God has been faithful to help us to press on and keep progressing in learning the national language and culture. Please pray for our continued learning.
Just before leaving for PNG, we learned Kara Linn was pregnant, which we could not be more thrilled about! Please be praying for the health of the baby and for Kara Linn, as this pregnancy has been difficult and we aren’t exactly living in ideal health conditions.
God has been so faithful to be there for us through morning sickness, culture adjustment, stress, constant change, and COVID lockdowns. God has been using these temporary earthly things to sharpen our focus onto eternal spiritual things instead. We have been studying 1 Peter together with the other new missionaries in our group. In it Peter encourages the believers dealing with earthly physical suffering by reminding them of eternal spiritual truths. 1 Peter 1:23 says, “For you have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God.”
This eternal life that we have encourages us amid temporary difficulties and is why we are here in Papua New Guinea. We did not come here to receive any earthly benefit or avoid difficulty. We came to PNG because there are people without hope in this short life. By God’s grace, we will one day offer the hope of eternal life to those who do not have it. Though it may seem like a sacrifice in this life, it is a privilege to participate in the story of eternity. Thank you for participating with us in prayer and financial support for such a worthwhile goal.
Grace and Peace,
Anthony and Kara Linn Haskins
