We on the Guanano team are experimenting with some “new technology” which has some pretty exciting impact for the Guanano work. Denise and I, Barry are currently in Wisconsin on itinerant ministry assignment. But because of this new technology, I may be able to play a more direct part in the ongoing revision and development of Guanano Bible lessons as if I were there. The “new technology” is a computer program called VSee. Some of you may be laughing now, especially if you have been using VSee for a number of years. But we have just discovered it. Recently I sat in my office in Wisconsin with a Bible lesson for Ephesians open on my computer screen. Meanwhile, our Guanano co-worker Gustavo, sitting in our American co-worker’s office in the Amazon jungle, was viewing the same Bible lesson on Lindy’s computer screen. Gustavo and I were conversing back and forth about the lesson. He was able to read the lesson, make comments, make suggestions for change, and I could edit while listening to him. The edits immediately appeared on the screen in front of Gustavo, and we kept conversing back and forth until we both were happy with the results. Progress was only limited by the coming and going of our internet signal, but even that couldn’t dampen my wonder at what was happening!
We are wanting to get a satellite internet system soon to set up in the Amazon where Gustavo, Mario and Lindy are with the thought that it will eliminate the coming and fading of the internet signal that Lindy has now from town. We invite you to pray along with us for this in these days. Thanks!
