If You Lived in Amdu…

November 8, 2012 by Bart and Emily Allen

…the outside of your house would look like one of these.

_______________

…this is what the inside of your house might look like.

_______________

…this would be your bathroom.

_______________

…it would be common to have pets like this under and around your house.

_______________

You may have noticed in the photos in our recent posts that the average Amdu person is quite small in stature compared to the guys on our team.  That means that they don’t have to make the doors to their houses very big.  And that posed a problem for the white guys!!

While our houses in Amdu will be larger than this and have many other differences, we may try to make them look similar to theirs on the outside.  One thing is for sure, though- we’ll be making our doors much bigger!!!

We will be presenting the ministries of Adoniram Judson and that of Bart and Emily Allen on Sunday. Pray that our people will see that God wants us to enter into the lives of missionaries in a serious way.

For God’s glory! For the gospel to reach the nations!

    Hey Bart and Emily,

I’m curious as to why the door does not go all the way to the floor. Were they all like this? Maybe it is a practical reason like making it harder for creatures to crawl in? Also, the house are above the ground. I’m assuming that is not for flooding being on the mountain? Is it because the ground is not easy to find level ground, or because of creatures, or something else? I suppose this was not the first question you asked, but I’m curious:)

Is that you Bart coming out of the doorway!? You look thinner. Like the pictures. Would love to visit you in your new house when you’ve built it.
    Love you!
    Talitha
