Since last April Missy has been translating the first twelve chapters of the book of Acts. Now, on the eve of beginning our teaching of Acts these portions of Scripture are going through the final steps of evaluation to make sure everything is clear and accurate.
The last few weeks have been particularly intense for Missy and her translation helpers and for Jason Stuart one of our translation consultants. Jason has gone through every verse carefully and Missy has made her final adjustments per his recommendations and now they will sit down with a couple of Amdu helpers and read it out to them a paragraph at a time.
The translation will be judged by the Amdu helper’s ability to explain back to Jason and Missy what they understand from what they heard. If the translation is clear, accurate and natural they should be able to explain back what they heard without a problem.
It takes hours and hours to do this. There are about 600 verses to check and a good pace is usually about 200 verses a day. So please be praying for stamina for everyone involved. Especially pray for Missy’s back. She is experiencing lower back pain but has three days of sitting to endure. Pray that she’ll be able to manage through it all.
Also pray for Jason Stuart and his kids Jedidiah and Ella Jo as they make their way here to Amdu today on the airplane. The weather is great today so we’re thankful for that.
Thank you for all you do to keep us here making disciples in Amdu. We can’t wait to get into the book of Acts with the believers here. They can’t wait to get into it with us either. There is so much good spiritual food that will give them such confidence in their walks with God. What a privilege it is for us to be here.
