2nd hand stores

February 12, 2014 by BJ and Jill Sanders

Most of you know that I love to shop!  You can shop in PNG!  We’ve been here for 2 weeks now and the honeymoon is over.  Haha, Mandy and I say that we don’t really think we even had a PNG honeymoon, but whatever it was, the reality has sunk in.  We’ve realized that we are very far away, and will be for a long time.  The reality is hard to take in.  And we are learning the language, but it’s hard to set aside a lot of time to do this.  I love watching movies, and getting pedicures, and hanging out with family, and shopping.  Most days I am fine with the way things are here…but other days, it is harder to take in.

So…I am now refreshed!  (let me explain that I am filled everyday by the Lord), but I got to go shopping yesterday!  My stress level came to a low when I was finished!  The ladies in the training went out 2nd hand shopping.  It’s like a goodwill, only worse…but cheaper!  I was able to find something for the girls, Graham, and BJ!  It’s so fun coming home with surprises, and not spending anything on them!  But just being out was so fun!  I needed that!  When I got home, the stress level continued to drop!  My amazing husband had cooked homeade pizza (yummy!)  and then we watched a movie!

The work here is pretty hard, so it’s nice noticing when you need a break and actually giving yourself a break!  We are only beginners at this, but I’m glad we’re figuring this out early on!  Thanks for praying for us!  We always need it!  We’re doing really well and our kids are growing up quickly.  We miss all of you, but we’re so thankful to be doing this along side with you!

Glad you had some time to go shopping and then come home to pizza. How about inviting us over sometime for a pizza party. I like mine with mushrooms and olives please. Your family is in our prayers daily and I know God is watching over all of you. It sounds like you are Pros not beginners. Thanks for what you are doing and we send our Love, Blessings and Prayers.
    Miss you all much.

    Dear B.J. and Jill,

It is always so good to hear from you. I’m praying right now that you will find times of refreshing as you work among this people group and that you will see God’s hand in the small things that you experience each day, as well as the more intense situations. I thank God for you and pray for your well-being as you adjust to the many, many cultural differences. You are loved by our church. God bless you dear friends and fellow servants of our Lord Jesus Christ.

I cant even imagine the journey you are on. I understand it would be very hard to take in, but just remember, you get to do things that very few get to experience. You have made it! and i am very proud. Lots of prayers for you guys and miss you all soo much!
