It’s that time again…transition time. Always a lovely time.
Last week, our family and the Hambrices took an airplane to G oroka, which is where the main NTM location is. We wanted to talk face to face with all of the leaders before most of them go on a year home assignment. Now G oroka is in the highlands, so that means the weather is wayyyyy different! I didn’t break a sweat the entire time. We went to bed and woke up cold! The place had a great impression on us! Our kids LOVED it! They played outside and didn’t complain once of being too hot. We told them that we will be moving here in about a month, and they were thrilled. (I’ll update later on our move!)
Then it happened…we came back to M adang. It was hotter than ever. Our kids loved G oroka, and I think were confused why we were back. Transitions. Part of me thinks, “why did I tell Olivia that we were moving?!” But it’s good to prepare her…right? This week, she has been very emotional. Crying at the drop of a hat. Acting like a baby. Sophie has been getting out of her bed every night (nana, papa, mimi, big papa…you know what that’s like!) Then I thought…
It’s like this EVERY time that we transition. And you know that our family does that a lot! So please pray for our family…especially our kids, and our patience to love them during this next couple transitions. The first of June, we will be flying to a tribe to spend a month finishing up learning tok pidgin. We will also be learning from missionaries who have already planted a church! We are really excited for this opportunity! In July, we will move to G oroka to wait for our co-workers to finish up, start buying stuff for our house, varnishing all the wood, and surveying the tribe we are interested in (again, an update coming soon!!!)
As you can see, we will be saying goodbye to friends here, saying hello to the tribe, then saying goodbye to the tribe…then saying hello to our new home in G oroka…then saying goodbye when we move to our tribe…you get the point! Please pray! I look forward to updating you VERY SOON on our meeting with leadership and the direction we are moving!!!
