It is January 16th………but no, we are not winging our way toward the Philippines! Yes, that was the plan – but it did not seem to be God’s timing for us to be able to accomplish the goals we had for this trip.
When we returned from our 2017 Fall trip to visit a good many of our supporting churches, we did not say anything to each other about it but we were both experiencing some uneasiness about our departure coming up quickly in January. Without going into all the details of the “whys” of our unease, it just so happened that in mid-December the travel agency called us to tell us they had made a change in our flight schedule and was the change agreeable with us. If not, they would refund our money and let us re-schedule. They even gave us a few days to make our decision! We immediately emailed our Head Translator, Margie Lumawan, in the Philippines to see how us changing our plans would affect her schedule. She is a very busy lady, being at present the only certified Wycliffe consultant in her area of the Philippines with plenty of requests for her expertise. She answered immediately with a resounding YES, that it would be a big help to her if we could delay our next visit to the Philippines to give her time to prepare properly for finalizing OT and NT changes in the Kalanguya text, etc. before sending off our manuscript to the printers!
So here we are……in Alabama, feeling a sense of relief at being able to “sit tight” for a little while! Bob is continuing work on HIS part of the editing of the Kalanguya Bible text (especially footnotes), not feeling so pressured, but looking forward to heading overseas sometime this summer. We will keep you posted!
IN THE MEANTIME, we are actively trying to get word out to friends (and friends of friends) that funds need to be raised to get the Kalanguya Bible into print later this year! Bibles will cost about $10 apiece so any gift, large or small, will be appreciated.
There are 3 avenues for giving to this project:
- For giving using a credit card, we have a printing fund on the ETHNOS360 website https://ethnos360.org/projects/kalanguya-bible-printing
- There is a GoFundMe page on Facebook that thankfully has been shared numerous times! www.gofundme.com/first-kalanguya-bible-in-print You can give directly or if you want a tax-deductible receipt for your gift, clicking on the words KALANGUYA BIBLE that you see at the bottom of the GoFundMe page will take you to the link you see above in #1.
- You can send a check to the Mission. Write the check to New Tribes Mission or Ethnos360. Include a slip of paper that says “Kalanguya Translation: Philippine Field Fund”. Your gift will go through the mission home office, then sent directly to our mission office in the Philippines.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT, YOUR PRAYERS, THE GREETING CARDS WE RECEIVED AT CHRISTMAS TIME, YOUR LOVE AND CONCERN FOR US AND OUR MINISTRY! WE LOVE AND APPRECIATE YOU!
