Just the other day we got back from Colorado where we met with a church that wanted to hear more about out ministry. It’s really an awesome testimony to God’s provision because before this trip we had only attended the church and spoken with the pastor once. This brief meeting happened on our way home from the Missionary Training Center just this past May. We had stopped in southern Colorado to see some friends when we realized that our transmission was in need of some repairs. A two day visit turned into a six day stay as our car sat in a shop for several days. At the time, we were pretty grumpy about the arrangement as our arrival in California was being pushed back and the fix was taking a bite out of our bank account. But in God’s good sovereignty the hang-up turned into an opportunity to meet with the pastor of the church we visited on Sunday. We shared our ministry with him, not expecting too much in return but considering it good practice before we jumped full-time into partnership development this summer. Then, about a month later, we get a call from Pastor Ed asking us to come out and meet with some people from the church and present to the congregation! So that’s what we did.
The trip was a whirlwind as Pastor Ed has several engagements planned for us but we were overwhelmed by his desire to share us with his flock and to have the church partner with us in ministry. Nothing is more humbling than accepting gift after gift from God’s people, understanding that ultimately these gifts are coming from the Creator of the Universe. We are most blessed to have met everyone we did in Colorado and thrilled to have them walk alongside us as we pursue God’s call.
