It has been a whirlwind of a first year for Maycie! She has already lived in 7 different homes, traveled to 3 states and lived in 2 countries. She even has her own missionary visa for the Philippines! She knows how to play peek-a-boo in two different languages and we are just waiting to find out how many other things she can do in two languages! She has way more Filipino friends than we do and is practicing her walking so she can play outside with all of them.
I can’t help but feel bad for her sometimes as I think of all the transitions she has had to make so soon in life. It does seem that she is excited for the changes and enjoys all the newness that comes with a new place. I am sure as she gets older it will become more difficult, but for now she is taking it all very well.
We had a fun little celebration for her with just us as a family and a couple of friends who stopped by. We weren’t sure if Maycie would understand what was going on. We are sure of one thing-she understood the concept of new toys and chocolate cake! It was fun to watch her get excited and play with her new toys. You can see pictures of it our photo galleries.
We are so grateful for the health and strength the Lord has given us as a family and that Maycie has made it this far with no more than a normal cold and some mold allergies. As parents we certainly fear the worst, and health issues are at the top of our list so it is nice to look back and see that God has taken care of her. We appreciate your prayers as Maycie enters into another year living here. She is starting to babble a lot, and walks all over the place so her life is going to get a lot more independent in a hurry! We anticipate yet another move in the Fall which will take us out of the city and into a more rural environment.
