Bushwheels

January 20, 2013 by Brian and Bailey Pruett

You may remember that last June Brian went to Alaska to test out big tires for the airplane. The testing went very well and Brian was able to get the tires approved by our leaders for a trial period on one of our Philippine aircraft. The tires arrived and Brian didn’t have any fun at all testing them out to see how they would perform compared to our old tires! In addition to testing the tires, Brian got all practiced up and took over the flying responsibilities from Joel so he could get ready for his home assignment.

The old tires served us well but I felt we could do better.
The new ones are 10” taller, twice as wide, and inflated to half the pressure of the small tires
They have been one of the biggest improvements I’ve seen for a Cessna 185 in the bush.
