Paisley and Paxdin, their children, are doing great. Lauren has completed her National Culture and Language Acquisition and totally dominated her final evaluation a couple weeks ago! That completes her official study of the PNG Culture and Language, just shy of 6 months. Justin has stepped into a support role for the time being, with the Supply Department for the time being. He is helping to keep about 12 missionary teams in the fields and stocked with the equipment and supplies they need in the jungle. On top of that we (Justin and Lauren) are involved in the discipleship of the national believers in our own neighborhood. Often times Christians here are being told to stop playing cards, smoking, chewing buai, and just follow the 10 commandments and God will be happy with them. Our desire is that they would be able to read God’s Word for themselves and grow in relation to that, and trust the Spirit of God they now have indwelling them rather than being out under a set of statutes. So thanks for also helping us to strengthen the local Church here in Papua New Guinea. Please continue to pray for us as we serve you and the folks here in PNG.
We are nearing the Allocation time where we will actually begin breaking ground on a ministry center and home somewhere in the jungle. We are awaiting a few things: Solidifying our Church Planting Team, Finding an approved people group, Receiving an invitation from this group, Shipping and receiving the building supplies needed, And Finally allocation and building in our location. We will have lots of survey trips and logistics in between but this is the general overview. We are working on all the details and we are putting together the plans for building and move in.
STAINED SOULS:
Kicking off my flip-flops one night, after a long day of work I notice the soles of my feet were black. I scrubbed and scrubbed them to no avail. They were stained. The streets are filthy! Here, there is no sanitation department, no street cleanings, and definitely no pedicure spas. We walk a ton more here than we ever did in the states and the reality that dirty feet are going to become part of my daily life, well it kicked me like a stinky foot in the face. But something else struck me. And, it was so much bigger than dirty feet. The Souls of countless millions are stained! Today, right here and now there are men and women, grandmas and grandpas, teens and children that are in Adam. They are dirty because of sin, they don’t know the means for them to be clean has come. Often they allow themselves to be put under a set of rules or regulations like go to church, follow the ten commandment, or read the Bible. They think this is faith or belief alone. But what it really is is the scrubbing of dirty feet that will never show anything but how totally stained they are. You and I as we understand who Jesus is, we’re given the task to help those understand the same truths and become witnesses to His power to clean us from the sin issue that has stained us. Let’s be sure we are communicating Christ in a relevant way and not simply trying to scrub clean something that will be revealed as a stain.
