Our most recent update letter:

Another update letter, which is about our future ministry in West Africa, sits in the draft folder, but due to recent events, that email will have to wait. Instead we want to update you on Calvin’s health.
A couple weeks ago we came up here to Wisconsin to visit Cameron’s sister, brother-in-law, nephew, and some co-workers from West Africa. Just a couple days after arriving we took Calvin to the hospital with meningitis symptoms. It was a rough week, not knowing what was going on as he went unresponsive in the emergency room, woke up from sedation, but his mental state declined to the point he didn’t even recognize us, kidney damage and back to sedation for dialysis. People were praying literally all over the world and in multiple languages for him. Even now, doctors can’t be 100% sure of what exactly was going on, but they’re saying it was aseptic meningitis and then the kidney damage was due to a reaction to one of the anit-viral medications he was given. We praise God that Saturday they let him leave.
While we are thanking God daily that our son is alive and doing so well, he still has a ways to go to get back his strength and energy. We had planned to already have left Wisconsin, but due to this crisis, we’re staying in Wisconsin a little while longer. Calvin has follow up appointments and physical therapies and we’re trying to give him time to rest and recovery before resuming our travels. We praise God for a place to stay here. He has provided for us in countless ways!
We don’t know how much longer we will be here, a lot will depend on how Calvin’s recovery goes. We’d appreciate your prayers as we regroup as a family and get back to some kind of normal life.
Thank you to each and everyone of you who has prayed for us during this difficult time!
In Christ,
-Cameron, Katy, Gracia and Calvin
