“Keep your nose in the Book!”
That’s a quote from one of our Bible school teachers that’s stayed in my head these past 17 years. Unfortunately I haven’t always kept that advice. I get busy. I want to sleep in, or start my morning by getting work done. I can read the Bible later. Then later the internet with all it’s information, pictures, and friend updates sounds easier than Bible study. And before you know it, I can go multiple days without my nose being in the Book.
When I do spend more time in the Book, I’m reminded of how much more there is to learn! I grew up in a Chrsitian home, never NOT knowing about Christ. I attended 2 years of full Bible classes, but still, there’s so, so much left to learn.
Recently I’ve been reminded even more of the importance of not just reading it, but understanding it, studying it, thinking about it, talking about it. It should be such a vital part of my life that even when my nose isn’t physically between it’s pages, my mind is.
I’m so thankful for all the people (some particular ones are coming to mind as I type this), who have encouraged me to take my requests to God, who have inspired me to dig deeper in the Word, and whose walks with God make me want to know Him more.
