Have you ever been working towards something really important, but in the middle of working so hard you get so caught up in the task at hand that you forget what it is you are actually working towards???
That was me today.
For the past 10 months we have been working hard in this phase of partnership development so that next August we can leave for Tanzania. Our journey has been rocky, to say the least, but it has been refining. However, there are days, like today, when I totally forget why we are doing this. I forget that there are men, women and children in Tanzania right now who are dying and entering into a Christ-less eternity. They are waiting for hope. That is why we are going.
So what brought this to light?
Well, as I was scrolling through Facebook this morning my eyes were drawn to a picture of my sweet friend Emily who lives in Papua New Guinea (PNG). There she was on the ground with her friend, Sophie, helping with dishes as she practiced speaking in Tok Pisin, the national language of PNG. Emily, her hubby and their 2 cute kids were in training with us out in Missouri and just left for PNG this past August. They have been working hard since their arrival to learn the culture and language of PNG so that they can go to an unreached tribe, live with them, learn from them and share with them God’s story!
Even though Emily has been sick and feeling crumy, she is still pushing forward because she knows that there are people who need to know her Jesus. Thank you, Emily, for this reminder today. That is why we have been traveling and sharing our story with people for the past 10 months. People still need Jesus. They are waiting. We are going.
