Tomorrow starts week four of classes and, I think its safe to say now, we’ve settled back into the routine. We arrived here at the MTC (Missionary Training Center) in Roach Missouri friday August 14th. We kicked off the new semester with grammar and literacy classes but now we’re in the midst of our Culture and Language Acquisition Practicum. Staff here are role playing the Dobu tribe from Papua New Guinea and we get to practice a bit what we’ve been learning. The Dobu have a very different culture than our own, a culture we (the students) do not yet understand. Through this exercise we get to see how the choices we, ‘the missionaries,’ make affect our ministry with the people and may affect our whole team. Its a good time practicing what we’ve learned and learning about ourselves.
The family is doing well. Maisie Grace Hostetter was born July 24th and is now already six weeks old. Micah and Cole love being back here with their many friends. Chris is involved in Young Life again this year and has also taken on the responsibility of co-leading the team of New Tribers involved in Young Life. Also, Maggie may be co-leading a small group with highschool girls from the Potter’s House Church. Continue to remember us in your prayers. God bless.
