January 18th

January 18, 2011 by Chris and Maggie Hostetter

The winter is wearing on, but we are managing to find enough to keep us busy with only a few slight cases of cabin fever once in a while. After a week or two of getting over our colds we’re back in the swing of making appointments and meeting with people about getting involved in planting churches in Papua New Guinea.

We had a wonderful time at Little Falls Alliance Church this past weekend. Everyone there has always been so supportive, and Chris shared during the service about the work we’re looking forward to overseas and the needs we have for people to join our team here in the States. He also shared that we still owe the Missionary Training Center about half of the balance of our bill for last semester that we haven’t been able to pay, and we can’t start the visa application/passport process until that debt is wiped out. Well, Pastor Phil asked the congregation to take that on, and they blessed us with much more than enough to pay the bill and put something in savings to pay for plane tickets, etc. “I’m so glad I’m a part of the family of God!” Earlier that morning I (Maggie) had just been telling someone that it didn’t look like our goal of leaving in July was going to happen because of that debt, but Chris stood up and said that was still our hope. Then God used that offering to remind me that He is in charge of the timetable, and even when I’m trying to be “realistic,” faith is still the most important thing. I’m so thankful that the faith of others can sometimes compensate for the lack of my own!

The new baby could come any time now. The doctor says her head is down, and we’d appreciate your prayers that she stays that way so we can avoid another C-section! Our other kids are all healthy except for the occasional runny nose, and the boys are enjoying “school” time every day – we started homeschooling them this year to get a taste of it before we head overseas. Micah doesn’t like handwriting practice, and Cole still can’t decide if he’s left-handed or not, but we’re making some progress.

Thank you for all your prayers and support.  We’d love to hear what God is doing in your lives.  Feel free to call us anytime or send us an email.
