Maggie’s Eval

November 21, 2011 by Chris and Maggie Hostetter

NCLA Consultant Report

For: Maggie Hostetter

Level: Basic level 1st eval

Date: Nov 17, 2011

Location: Ben and Helen’s house

Culture/Language helper: Helen

Overall Impression: You’re doing amazingly well, Maggie – language learning for you definitely comes easier than for some.  Be thankful that God has given you this gift!  (Rosie)  She gets out when she can, in the midst of taking care of the kids, house and meals etc.  Getting out is where the culture and language come together.

NCLA Level: Maggie has been informed about the different levels of communication tasks.  She has done really well and is at progressive mid.

General Recommendations- You are doing so well!  It’s amazing how you can retain all you read and study and how you can multi task with the kids, etc.  Keep on doing what you’re doing!  You are also just a nice person to be around and I pray that you can continue to walk with God in close fellowship during this busy stage of your life.  As you move on in language study…try to get more cultural stories (recorded when possible) about the PNG people’s lives.  Types of entertainment, work habits, work for men, women, children, any forms of exchange, property, ways of earning money, what they spend money on, etc.  These are just some ideas to help you get further on in language study as your language progresses when you investigate deeper into their culture.  Great work, Maggie!
