Day 6

October 20, 2012 by Chris and Maggie Hostetter

Today was that day – the day everything doesn’t go smooth. The day things go wrong.

7:30 this morning Travis reached into his bag to pull out his tool. As his hand went into the bag he felt something latch on and instinctively he shook his hand to get it off. A centipede was on his middle finger and before it was flung to the ground it stung him. Pain. Intense excruciating pain. We got him medicated pretty quick and a little while later he was out. When he awoke the pain had lessened but the meds had him on cloud nine. He napped again in the afternoon and by dinner time he was feeling quite well. His hand really swelled up but it’s going down and tomorrow he should be back tomorrow.

Other than that the day went fairly well. We received some nasty weather for about 2 hours early in the afternoon but when that passed we had the most pleasant weather of our whole week. The late afternoon sun was warm but not hot and the blue skies were a welcome sight after a week of clouds.

All the purlins made it on today. And a few other random things. The tin roofing, this time for sure, will go on tomorrow. Pray for us as we’re up crawling on the top of our house, again.

The top picture is our truckload of stuff that went up the road to the shuttle point for the helicopter. The second picture is from a few days ago but I wanted to show you how hard I’ve been working. The third picture, (sorry it’s not in focus), is what stung Travis today. And the last picture is Travis’ swollen hand.
