We’re sitting around the table yesterday evening having a spaghetti family dinner when we hear Pal kids outside playing excitedly. Now they often come around to play on the swings just down the hill from our house or to see what the white people are up to but we’ve never heard them making this much racket or playing with this much excitement. So this merited my attention and I went outside to see what all the fuss was about. I found a young Pal boy using his underwear to zip down our home made zip-line as many other Pal kids laughed and waited their turns.
We recently tied a rope to a beam above our porch and then hung the other end over a post I planted in the ground about 30 feet away. The ‘rider’ hangs a hand towel (or underwear) over the slack rope and hangs on tightly to the towel while standing beneath our porch. Someone (usually me) then pulls the other end of the rope and as the rope comes taut the rider zips down the line. So, the Pal kids were having a blast on our little zip-line but as I saw they were having a bit of trouble getting enough pull on the rope for a suitable ride I flipped my ‘flops on and took my place as the puller. My kids came outside and took turns with the Pal kids and everyone got to enjoy a good ride and a good time. After a little while I sent the Pal kids home and my kids inside to get ready for bed.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!
God Bless!
