Ready to learn to read Pal? Good. It’s easy.
First, we learn the syllables /ki/ and /i/ as taught to us from the word /kikiak/. Now, we can’t really say anything yet with just those syllables so let’s learn some more! Now we introduce the syllables /lǝ/ and /ǝ/ from the word /lǝkǝsua/. /ǝ/ is the vowel sound we Americans make in the words [hut] and [cup]. We can also combine the new sounds with the old ones and now we have 6 syllables we can say. With those six syllables we can now write some simple stories. Practice what you just learned by reading the short stories!
Good reading. Now let’s add another sound. We add the letter /g/ and now we know two more syllables; /gi/ and /gǝ/. Now we need to practice reading some more. . .
You’ve just experienced a tiny taste of what the Pal people will go through to learn to read and write their own language. Pray for us as we continue to prepare for the first class and pray that all the Pal people would eventually become literate.
