Our first literacy class has begun! The day before our first class we invited the whole Pal community and had a big party celebrating the start of the Pal Literacy Program. We ate together and talked about the new ‘school’. Also, we had each of the 14 students come forward, pay their small school fee, and receive their school supplies. The first picture is of me going over the school rules with the whole community on ‘party day’.
The next day class began and our 14 students were on time and ready to go (as they have been every day since). We’ve only just begun but the students are learning quickly, are focused, and are working hard. We’re loving working with them and teaching them to read and write.
Also, our new coworkers, Axel and Sandra Fachner, will be moving into Pal soon. Pray for them as they make this huge transition and adapt to Pal life and culture.
